Job summary

Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg, VA seeks an Assistant Marching Band Director to support the Band Director in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive high school instrumental music program. This role fosters artistic growth, leadership, and positive school culture.

The position involves high-quality instruction in classroom, ensemble, sectional, and individual rehearsals; assisting with performances, travel, and events; and helping recruit and develop students

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• One year of coaching experience preferred in music/band.
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to enroll.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive high school instrumental music program.
• Provide high-quality instruction through classroom, ensemble, sectional, and individual rehearsals.
• Collaborate with the lead director for performances, travel, and events.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment and student growth.
• Support recruitment, retention, and development of performing arts students.
• Care for instruments, equipment, uniforms, and program resources.
