The Attorney General’s Office in Augusta has an immediate opening for an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) within the Professional and Financial Regulation Division. The primary responsibility of this AAG will be to provide legal counsel to various professional licensing boards and programs within the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation and/or financial regulatory agencies. This includes handling disciplinary complaints, providing legal analysis and opinions, performing agency rule review, defending agency decisions in court, and enforcing agency orders.
This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must be members of the Maine Bar in good standing, detail-oriented, interested in complex state regulation, possess strong legal advocacy and writing skills, and demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team. One to three years of legal practice with proficiency in administrative law and litigation is preferred.
