Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina seeks an Assistant Attorney General in the Securities Section to represent the Securities and Money Services Sections during investigations and legal proceedings. The role includes preparing pleadings, negotiating resolutions, and representing at trial, hearings, and appeals.

Travel to court and related file transport may be required. A Juris Doctorate and at least 5 years of practicing attorney experience, plus SC Bar membership, are essential.

Qualifications

About Securities

Under limited supervision, performs professional legal work for the State, its subdivisions, and officials. Assigned to the Securities Section as Assistant Attorney General.

• Represents the Securities and Money Services Sections in the investigative stages of securities and money services cases.
• Following the investigation, make recommendations regarding the appropriate resolution of assigned cases.
• Prepares pleadings related to assigned cases.
• Successfully negotiates assigned cases.
• Represent the Securities and Money Services Sections in the trial or hearing and appellate phases of assigned cases.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Director or the Attorney General.

• Ability to plan and direct the activities of a legal staff.
