The South Carolina Office of the Attorney General seeks candidates for multiple vacancies that involve legal research, document preparation, and courtroom assistance. You will have the chance to select your preferred sections within the office.
Ideal candidates are current law students or recent graduates from an ABA-accredited law school. Responsibilities include supporting attorneys, conducting legal research, and assisting junior law clerks. A professional demeanor and strong communication skills are essential.
This position includes multiple vacancies across different sections of the Attorney General's Office. You will have an opportunity to select the sections that interest you. Under limited supervision, provide support to attorneys representing the State in state and federal courts. Responsibilities include:
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
1) be a current law student graduating in December 2026,
2) be transferring from out of state and preparing for the swearing‑in,
or 3) be a recent graduate from an ABA‑accredited law school awaiting SC Bar results.
Before transferring into a permanent Assistant Attorney General position, the applicant must complete Rule 403 requirements.
Candidates involved in State Grand Jury matters will be sworn to SGJ secrecy protocols and required to participate in the random drug testing program.
Drug screening, credit checks, delinquent tax checks, grievance checks, and SLED background checks are required.
