Assistant Attorney General (Attorney III), General and Special Prosecution

Join the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General as an Assistant Attorney General (Attorney III), General and Special Prosecution.

Job Responsibilities

Become part of the General and Special Prosecution team! Prosecutors will travel across South Carolina handling a variety of cases, including drug offenses, homicides, hit-and-runs, and human trafficking. You will collaborate with law enforcement agencies, defense attorneys, and appear before judges statewide. This role offers opportunities to enhance litigation skills and work on impactful legislation. Recent cases include:

• State v. John Blauvelt (featured on 48 Hours)
• First human trafficking guilty verdict
• Guilty verdict in a 35-year-old no-body homicide cold case
• Murder conviction in Spartanburg County
• Manslaughter plea after locating a missing body

Legal Responsibilities

• Assist in case intake and evaluation
• Manage case progression through the judicial system
• Seek just resolutions in all cases
• Handle docket management and reporting
• Attend and conduct training sessions

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Juris Doctorate and at least five years of criminal prosecution or defense experience, preferably in a Public Defender's or Solicitor's Office. Must be a member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar and meet Rule 403 requirements.

Additional requirements include potential overnight travel and file transportation.
