  • Oversee content on gwusports.com and perform routine website maintenance.
  • Manage statistics and program records; distribute Live Stats files.
  • Gameday/event operations: supervise media staff and coordinate gameday scripts.
  • Collaborate on design of promotional materials and social graphics.
  • Supervise part-time staff, game day workers, and interns.

Job description

Reporting to the Vice President for Athletics/Athletic Director,the Assistant AD for Strategic Communications oversees publicityand marketing supporting the University’s NCAA Division Iintercollegiate sports. Tasks include oversight of the athleticdepartment’s webpage, social media accounts, press releases andstatistical records; gameday promotions; and ticket sales. Primarysports information contact for sports as assigned. Night andweekend work required as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media and Public Relations. Designated primary contact for alllocal, regional, and national media outlets. Coordinates allinterviews for coaches and staff for assigned sports. Supervise andapprove content posted on all program/department social mediaaccounts for assigned sports. Produce content and develop programmedia guides and other printed materials for assigned sports.Schedule and produce video content for distribution for assignedsports.
  • Website; Oversee and assist in planning all content publishedon gwusports.com. Conduct routine general website maintenance andenhancements.
  • Statistics and Program Records. Management and distribution ofLive Stats and StatCrew/Genius files for all assigned events.Maintain and update program record books for assigned sports.
  • Gameday/Event Operations. Oversight of gameday media staff bothpart-time and full-time staff. Management of press box and table atselect events. Coordinate execution of gameday scripts and PA readswith Marketing. Manages scoreboard operations at select sportingevents. Scheduling and management of gameday staff both part-timeand full-time staff.
  • Design Elements and Graphics. Collaborate and design allpublished content, promotional materials, and social media graphicsfor assigned sports.
  • Supervisor Responsibility: Assistant Director of StrategicCommunication, Multiple part-time and game day staff, work studystudents and interns.
Required Qualifications
  • Education. Bachelor’s Degree
  • Skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills,including ability to effectively communicate with internal andexternal customers.
  • Experience. Self-starter with an outstanding work ethic. 1-3years’ experience in a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, whilemaintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customerservice.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments tocompletion within parameters of instructions given, prescribedroutines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator,InDesign) strongly preferred.
