Job summary

St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer to work with the Director of Sports Medicine in daily care of student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, management, treatment and rehab of injuries.

This role may teach a course for additional compensation. Qualifications include a Master’s degree in athletic training or related field, Texas license or eligibility, NATA BOC certification, and 1–2 years of collegiate athletic training experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in athletic training, kinesiology or related field.
• Texas DHS license or eligibility for licensure.
• NATA BOC certification required.
• 1–2 years athletic training experience; collegiate level preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat athletic injuries.
• Coordinate prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries.
• Manage short- and long-term rehabilitation plans.
• Supervise medical care needs of teams as assigned.
• Maintain detailed medical records and insurance for student-athletes.
• Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations.
• Schedule doctor's appointments for injured athletes.
• Assist with inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
• Counsel student-athletes on medical issues.
• Remain compliant with NCAA, conference and university policies.
• Obtain continuing education credits for licensure renewal and certification.
