Bemidji State University (BSU) invites applicants to join our team as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. As a healthcare professional, the Athletic Trainer position ensures safe participation in athletics focused on injury and illness prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility. This position works directly with multiple healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to student‑athlete wellbeing..

Responsibilities of the Assistant Athletic Trainer include:

• Providing comprehensive healthcare and oversite of assigned sports teams and all university athletes. (55%)

• Maintaining secure medical records and documentation. (15%)

• Communication with doctors, administrators, fellow athletic trainers, coaches, and student‑athletes. (15%)

• Additional duties as needed for university, athletics, athletic training (10%)

• Professional competency. (5%)

Salary Range:

Depends on Qualifications; Range C ($47,607 - $93,342)

Minimum Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualification

• Master’s degree in athletic training or closely related field and two (2) years of experience working as a Certified Athletic Trainer, preferably in professional or NCAA Division I or Division II level.

Working Conditions:

• This position requires frequent evening, nights, weekends and holiday assignments. It is on call throughout the year. May be exposed to hazardous agents and infectious disease. Working both indoors and outdoors, including during inclement weather.

The City of Bemidji

Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College lie amid the lakes and forests of northern Minnesota. Bemidji State occupies a wooded campus along the western shore of Lake Bemidji while Northwest Technical College lies just three miles east, near Bemidji’s robust industrial district.

The city sits between Minnesota’s three largest American Indian tribal nations: the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, the Red Lake Nation and the White Earth Nation. When settling the Bemidji area in 1750, the Ojibwe people named the lake Bemidjigamaag, which means “a lake with crossing waters” as the Mississippi River flows in from the south and exits on the east. Today, a city proper with a population of around 15,000 serves as a regional economic and cultural hub for about 100,000 Minnesotans.

An expansive network ofmulti-use trail systems is available for running, cross‑country skiing, single‑track or fat‑tire biking, and skijoring. Further, downhill skiing, snowboarding, and tubing lie just north of Bemidji at the Buena Vista Ski Area.

Bemidji is also near two of Minnesota’s 66 state parks: Lake Bemidji State Park, which sits along Lake Bemidji’s northern shore, and Itasca State Park, home to the majestic Mississippi River Headwaters.
