Job Details – Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer; Location: Spalding‑University Center – Louisville, KY 40203 (On Campus). Type: Full Time; Education Level: Master’s; Category: Education.

Job Summary

The full‑time Assistant Athletic Trainer will maintain and coordinate a comprehensive sports medicine program for Spalding University athletics under the leadership of the Head Athletic Trainer.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform professional and administrative services essential for the success of the program under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Injury prevention, emergency care, first aid and physical rehabilitation of injuries incurred by Spalding University’s intercollegiate athletes.
  • Organize and conduct medically prescribed sports rehabilitation and conditioning programs following an injury and be responsible for appropriate organization and implementation of athletic insurance claim paperwork and follow‑up as necessary.
  • Supervise and participate in the teaching of graduate athletic training students enrolled in an innovative, new entry‑level Master of Science Degree Program in Athletic Training.
  • Provide coverage during practices and games.
  • Effectively communicate with athletes, coaches, families, university officials, and physicians.
  • Refer athletes for appropriate diagnostic and follow‑up procedures and maintain injury tracking.
  • Other duties include:

Qualifications
  • Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and eligible for licensure in the state of Kentucky.
  • Master’s degree and previous collegiate athletic training experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, multitasking, and budget management skills.
  • Knowledge of the NCAA, its rules and regulations, and an understanding of or willingness to learn a DivisionIII academic and sports culture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong background in professional athletic training and experience working with student‑athletes at the high school and/or collegiate level.
  • Commitment to inclusiveness, collegiality, and mentoring students and faculty on multicultural and multidisciplinary applications.

Interrelations
  • Work closely and communicate often and openly with the Head Athletic Trainer, the position’s supervisor.
  • Listen to and act on direction, take guidance, and be accountable to the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Effectively communicate with and solve problems for diverse groups, including students, staff, alumni, and other constituencies.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively in an environment characterized by large workloads, deadline pressures, and high-performance standards.
