Job summary

Bellarmine University Athletics is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to provide on-site care for student-athletes and support prevention and rehabilitation efforts.

The role reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer and requires BOC certification, a CAATE-accredited master's degree, and eligibility for Kentucky medical licensure, along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • BOC Certification required.
  • Master's degree in athletic training CAATE-accredited.
  • Eligible for Kentucky Medical State License.
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site care for student-athlete injuries with prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
  • Coordinate prevention programs with Strength and Conditioning staff.
  • Document all patient encounters through injury tracking EMR.
  • Communicate with Team Physicians, allied health professions, and coaching staff regarding injury status and treatment plan.
  • Assist in daily operations of the athletic training room and ensure proper use of equipment.
  • Provide daily medical care for assigned student-athletes per SOPs.
  • Assist with filing and resolving secondary insurance issues.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer.

Job Description

Bellarmine University Athletics is searching for an AssistantAthletic Trainer.

Will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student AthleteWellness/Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer willbe responsible for:

  • On-site care of Student-Athlete injuries/illnesses, includingprevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athleticinjuries
  • Coordinate and implement prevention programs and strategies inconjunction with the Strength and Conditioning staff
  • Electronic documentation of all patient encounters throughinjury tracking EMR
  • Communicate with Team Physicians, other allied healthprofessions, and coaching staff regarding injury status andtreatment plan of Student-Athletes
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic trainingroom. Ensure that student-athletes use equipment and facilitiesproperly, including adherence to Athletic Training Room timeschedules and proper operating procedures
  • Provide daily medical care for assigned student-athletes perthe Athletic Training Department standard operating procedures
  • Assist with filing and resolving issues concerning secondaryinsurance
  • Perform administrative and other duties as assigned by theAssociate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/HeadAthletic Trainer

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Evaluation, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of Student-Athleteinjuries
  • Work with Sports Medicine team to design and implement pre- andpost-injury programs
  • Travel with athletic teams as assigned and directed
  • Critical thinking and independent decision making regarding theassessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisionsper state licensure guidelines
  • Organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little orno supervision.
  • Communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations whentalking to patients, medical professionals, coaches, staff, andfamilies.
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/orcarrying of objects
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings,evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
  • BOC Certification
  • Master's degree from a professional athletic training educationprogram accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of AthleticTraining Education (CAATE)
  • Eligible for KY Medical State License
  • Current Fist Aid and CPR/AED certification
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
