Job summary

The Santa Cruz Warriors seek an Assistant Athletic Trainer to provide and coordinate medical coverage for the team in Santa Cruz, CA. This role reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and adheres to NATA guidelines and performance staff policies.

Responsibilities include rehabilitation support, pre-participation exams, coverage during practices and games, travel medical support, equipment prep, and medical record management using AHMS. Requires ATC certification and BLS, with 2+ years in sports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in collegiate or professional sports.
• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in good standing with NATABOC.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and resolution skills.

About the Position

The Santa Cruz Warriors are looking for an Assistant Athletic Trainer to provide and coordinate medical coverage and healthcare for the team. In this role, they will follow the mission and policies of performance staff and work within the scope of work defined by the National Athletic Trainers Association. This role will report to the Head Athletic Trainer.

This is a full-time position based in Santa Cruz, CA.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the rehabilitation of the Santa Cruz Warrior players under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer
• Coordinate and prepare pre-participation exams including cardiac testing, medical exams, and paperwork
• Provide medical coverage and support the operations of practices, games and team activities
• Prepare medical equipment for road game travel
• Manage inventory and ordering for all medical equipment and schedule yearly calibration
• Help coordinate and facilitate physician visits and coverage
• Manage athlete medical invoices and insurance and worker’s compensation injury claims
• Maintain medical records for all athletes through the Athlete Health Management System (AHMS)
• Provide Summer League medical coverage
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work in Athletic Training
• 2+ years of experience working in collegiate or professional sports
• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in good standing with the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
• Current Basic Life Support certification
• Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and resolution skills
• Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with clients and peers at all levels within the organization
• Ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and provide creative solutions independently
• Ability to balance multiple projects at once in a fast-paced work environment

Time Commitment

• Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
• Frequent travel with the team

Compensation

• $75,000 Per Year + Bonus
