UC Santa Barbara is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Athletics Department. This 100% full‑time role will supervise the Sports Medicine department and provide injury prevention and treatment services across all intercollegiate athletics.

Key duties include treatment of injuries, training room operations, and coordination with Student Health Services and team physicians; leadership of the internship program; and ongoing professional development within a tobacco-free university

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Collegiate Training Room experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• 35% Treatment of injuries – prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and medical coordination.
• 25% Training room operations – records, inventory, infection control, compliance.
• 15% Coordination of services – pre-participation physicals, clinical appointments, status updates.
• 10% Athletic Training Internship Program – supervise interns, provide educational experiences.
• 15% Additional duties as assigned by athletics leadership and maintain certification.

ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER

Position available in the Athletics Department of UC Santa Barbara. This 100% full‑time role (Position Number 40028280 / 40034654) requires a professional Athletic Trainer to supervise the Sports Medicine department and provide injury prevention and treatment services across all intercollegiate athletics.

Key Responsibilities

• Intensity of Duties: 35% Treatment of Injuries – managing prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; coordinating medical care, implementing protocols, and advising coaches on conditioning programs.
• 25% Training Room Operations – maintaining accurate medical records, inventory, infection control, compliance with certifications, and liaison with other campus services.
• 15% Coordination of Services – working with Student Health Services, Team Physicians, and the Department to conduct pre‑participation physicals, coordinate clinical appointments, and manage communication regarding athlete injury status.
• 10% Athletic Training Internship Program – directing the internship program, supervising graduate assistants and interns, and providing educational experiences.
• 15% Additional Responsibilities – maintaining certified status, continuing education, teaching duties, workshops, and performing any duties assigned by the Associate A.D. - Sports Medicine or Director of Athletics.

Qualifications

• In‑depth knowledge of the Athletic Trainer profession with ability to independently perform listed functions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with campus procurement and equipment/supplies requirements.
• Effective collaboration with coaches, athletes, physicians, specialists, and staff.
• Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive injury and treatment information.
• Analytical skills to identify problems and determine solutions.
