Job summary

Drexel University in Philadelphia is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support varsity student‐athletes across Division I programs. This role provides athletic trainer coverage, injury evaluation, treatment, and coordination of medical care.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree, NATABOC certification, PA license or eligibility, and CPR/AED certification. Weekend/evening availability and travel are required, along with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical or post Bachelor's experience.
  • Current NATABOC certification, Pennsylvania licensed or eligible.
  • Active CPR/AED certification or ability to acquire by the start of the position.
  • Excellent communication skills for use with a variety of constituents including professional staff and students.
  • Ability to work weekend and evenings.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, care, prevent and treat athletic injuries and related illnesses.
  • Inform coaches on status of injuries, determine ability to compete in an event and communicate this to coach & athlete.
  • Arrange medical appointments as necessary for student athletes. Maintain electronic medical records or student-athletes.
  • Make necessary doctor's appointments and accompany student athletes to visits as appropriate.
  • Serve as the primary athletic trainer and travel with assigned teams.
  • Cover home athletic events & practice sessions for intercollegiate teams.
  • Assist in coordination of day‑to‑day operations of the DAC and Vidas athletic training rooms.
  • Communication with student‑athletes, team physicians, coaches, performance team, and all other medical personnel involved with a student‑athletes medical treatment.
  • Coordinate medical insurance referral process and insurance claim management.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

This position will be a member of the Sports Medicine team that oversees the medical needs of Drexel Athletics Varsity student‑athletes. This position will be responsible for athletic trainer coverage for Division 1 Athletic programs as assigned.

Essential Functions

Required Qualifications

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $45,330 - $68,000 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
