  • Eligibility for NATABOC certification, CPR/AED certification, and Colorado AT licensure.
  • Experience in the field of athletic training.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of athletic training experience at the Division I level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency care, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of varsity injuries under supervision of the athletic team physician.
  • Assist in day‑to‑day operations of the training room.
  • Assist with budgeting, ordering, and inventory control.
  • Oversee primary care coverage for varsity teams as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine.
  • Assist with development and implementation of Sports Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Assist with treatments of varsity student‑athletes as needed.
  • Coordinate physical examinations, medical insurance, and other medical administrative tasks.
  • Direct and educate the student athletic trainer.
  • Compile statistical information for post‑injury testing and injury rates.
  • Oversee special events and summer camp training responsibilities.

Assistant Athletics Trainer

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting with the organization, management, and development of the University’s intercollegiate sports medicine program.

Essential Functions
  • Provide emergency care, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of all varsity athletic injuries under the direct supervision and guidelines of the athletic team physician.
  • Assist in the day‑to‑day operations of the training room.
  • Assist with the administrative responsibilities of budgeting, ordering, and inventory control.
  • Oversee the primary care coverage for varsity teams as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the Sports Medicine Department.
  • Assist with treatments of all varsity student‑athletes when necessary.
  • Assist with the coordination of all physical examinations, medical insurance, and other medical administrative tasks.
  • Direct and educate the student athletic trainer.
  • Compile relevant statistical information for post‑injury strength testing and injury rates.
  • Oversee special events and summer camp training responsibilities as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine.
  • Provide other team and training room coverage as assigned.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism that fosters growth of the department and a high perception of the division.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work with the public with tact and judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Work involves operating equipment, communicating verbally with customers and employees of the University, standing on feet for extended periods, and transporting items up to 25 pounds.
  • Work conducted in a standard training room with frequent interruptions and moderate to high stress.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine.
  • Experience in the field of athletic training.
  • Eligibility for NATABOC certification, CPR/AED certification, and Colorado AT licensure.
  • Knowledge specific to the field of athletic training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • 1–3 years of athletic training experience at the Division I level.
  • Ability to work with insurance companies, follow University procurement policy, and knowledge of prescription medication.
Working Environment
  • Standard office environment.
  • Frequent interruptions with moderate to high stress.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional movement around the office or campus.
Work Schedule

Varies depending on varsity sports seasons. Some weekends, evenings, early mornings, and travel.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$62,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
