Gettysburg College seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support the athletic training staff in fostering a safe environment for over 500 student-athletes. This full-time position involves emergency care, rehabilitation, and active participation in a highly respected training team, requiring certification and relevant experience.
Gettysburg College, located in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, 10-month (some summer commitments) administrative position reporting to the Director of Athletic Medicine and Sports Performance (Head Athletics Trainer). The assistant athletic trainer will assist the athletic training staff in providing a safe and healthy environment for our student-athletes to compete. The successful candidate will assist in providing emergency care, initial treatment, follow-up care, rehabilitation, and successful return to competition. It is expected that the assistant athletic trainer would be able to perform all athletic training skills and be a proactive, contributing member of a successful, highly respected athletic training team. This position involves working various nights and weekends, occasional holidays, and travel. Gettysburg College sponsors 24 varsity sports, with over 500 student-athletes competing in Division III of the NCAA.
A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have two to five years of experience as a NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer. The candidate must be Board of Certification (BOC) certified and licensed or eligible to hold a license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania before their start date. Instructor rating in CPR and First Aid would be beneficial. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members. The individual will organize experiences in health-related issues that would benefit our student-athletes, coaches, and summer campers.
