Primary Purpose

Under the supervision of the head athletic trainer, provide assistance for the girls' athletic program. Develop and direct the student athletic trainers.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

• Bachelor's degree
• Valid athletic trainer's license

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Effective organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of University interscholastic League (UIL) rules

Experience

• Experience in sport injuries preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Secure physicals, medical history, acknowledgment of rules, parent consent/student info and drug testing forms for the girls' athletic programs.
• Keep the head athletic trainer and assistant athletic director/girls' coordinator informed about any major injuries and the status of the athlete.
• Work with and develop the proper relationship with team physicians, coaches, athletes, and the family of injured athletes.
• Inform parents of injuries of athletes assigned.
• Develop and direct student athletic trainers.
• Document all injuries, rehabilitations, treatment, and progress reports of athletes assigned.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
