Salary range: The salary range for this position is $525,000 - $625,000. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

Join the UC Davis Health Combined Hand Surgery (CHS) program, bringing together fellowship-trained faculty from Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery in a unified academic practice providing comprehensive hand and upper extremity care.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon to join one of the nation's fastest-growing academic orthopaedic departments. The successful candidate will develop a comprehensive elective hand and upper extremity practice within the CHS program while participating in a busy academic hand trauma service, educating trainees at all levels, and contributing to the clinical, educational, and scholarly missions of UC Davis Health.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Practice within the CHS program, uniting Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Hand Therapy, and musculoskeletal specialists in a coordinated model of care.
  • Develop a comprehensive elective hand and upper extremity practice while participating in regional Level I Adult and Pediatric hand trauma call.
  • Collaborate with Plastic Surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Radiology, Hand Therapy, and other musculoskeletal specialists to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Teach residents, fellows, and medical students while contributing to clinical, translational, and educational scholarship consistent with the Clinical X or HSCP academic series.
  • Join a nationally recognized Department of Orthopaedic Surgery experiencing significant growth in clinical programs, research, education, and multidisciplinary musculoskeletal care.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Faculty will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient hand and upper extremity care while participating in the department's hand trauma call schedule. Responsibilities include developing an elective surgical practice within the CHS program, teaching and mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students, participating in departmental conferences and university service, and engaging in scholarly activities appropriate to the faculty series.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • M.D. or D.O. degree (or equivalent).
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency (or equivalent).
  • Candidates in the Clinical X series must demonstrate the ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research and must provide evidence of experience obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
  • Fellowship training in Hand Surgery.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of California.
