Job summary

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education to begin Fall 2027. This 9-month, tenure-track or tenured position requires a Doctorate in Special Education or related field, PreK–12 certification/eligibility, and demonstrated teaching effectiveness for online and face-to-face courses.

The successful candidate will mentor students and serve on multiple committees, with regular on-campus presence.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Special Education or related field is required.
• ABD candidates may be considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment.
• Associate Professor candidates must meet rank and tenure qualifications.
• PreK–12 special education certification or eligibility is required, with classroom experience.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face and online courses.
• Experience in public schools and Diagnostician Certification are encouraged.

Primary duties will include teaching across modalities, including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also include mentoring students and serving on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.**Required Qualifications**The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Special Education or related field required. ABDs considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment. Associate Professor candidates must meet qualifications for rank and tenure. All specializations welcome. Current PreK–12 special education certification or eligibility required, along with PreK–12 special education classroom experience. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate courses.
