Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education to begin Fall 2027. This 9-month faculty appointment offers tenure-track path at Assistant Professor level or tenured Associate Professor.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in person and online graduate courses, mentor students, and participate in committees across departments and colleges.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Special Education or related field required; ABDs considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment.
• Associate Professor candidates must meet qualifications for rank and tenure.
• PreK–12 special education certification or eligibility required, with classroom experience.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate courses.
• Record of special education work in public schools and ability to teach in areas that complement current programs; Educational Diagnostician Certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and online graduate courses across modalities (face-to-face and online).
• Mentor students and supervise academic work as assigned.
• Serve on departmental, college, university, and professional committees; participate in campus activities; attend on-site as required.

Primary duties will include teaching across modalities, including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also include mentoring students and serving on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.**Required Qualifications**The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Special Education or related field required. ABDs considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment. Associate Professor candidates must meet qualifications for rank and tenure. All specializations welcome. Current PreK–12 special education certification or eligibility required, along with PreK–12 special education classroom experience. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate courses.
