General Statement of Duties:

Program Description:

The Department of Social Work at Westfield State University is seeking applications for: Multiple full-time tenure-track positions at the Assistant and Associate Rank to begin September 2027.

Westfield State University's Master of Social Work Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) with a single concentration in clinical practice.

The MSW Program provides a clinically focused social work education using a hybrid model. Courses are offered two nights per week, with 2/3 of content delivered online and 1/3 delivered face-to-face. Significant office presence is required for meetings, advising, and generalcollaboration. Professors are required to teach both online and in-person; this is an office-based position.

Beginning in 2022, the MSW Program offers a fully online degree path. In this model, classes are held synchronously on Zoom two nights per week and asynchronous work during the rest of the week.

The BSW Program provides generalist social work education using a hybrid model. With 1/2 of content delivered online and 1/2 delivered face-to-face, all practice courses are 100% face-to-face. Classes are scheduled primarily between 8:00AM - 4:00PM, although a small percentage of classes are held online in the evenings.

Responsibilities:

Tenure-Track Assistant and Associate Professor

The tenure track position will primarily teach across the BSW and MSW programs, both online and in-person. Teaching load will be 24 credits per year (12 credits per semester), additionalresponsibilities include: student advising; scholarship (including, where applicable, work toward a doctoral degree); and service to the university and wider community. Applicants will have the ability to teach online, and specific curricular areas of need include: Generalist Practice and Advanced Clinical Practice.

At the Assistant Professor Rank:

Education

• MSW required with a minimum of two years post-master' s direct practice
• PhD in Social Work or Social Welfare (ABD will be considered at the Assistant rank)

Licensure

• LICSW or LCSW (or state equivalent) required Teaching Experience
• Some college-level teaching preferred, including teaching assistantships or guest lecturing

Practice Experience

• 2+ years of post-MSW direct practice experience
• Evidence of scholarly potential: this can include dissertation research, publications, conference presentations
• Active research agenda is expected

At the Associate Professor Rank:

Education

• Master of Social Work (MSW) is required
• PhD in Social Work or Social Welfare

Licensure

• LICSW (or state equivalent) is required

Teaching Experience

• Five years of prior college-level teaching experience
• Experience teaching core social work courses

Practice Experience

• Meaningful direct practice experience in social work (typically 2+ years post-MSW)
• Expertise in child/family welfare and child/family mental health
• A demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations
• Active research agenda or scholarly work in progress

Service

• Evidence of professional service - field liaison work, committee involvement, community engagement
• Field education supervision experience is valued

• Knowledge of CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS)
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in pedagogy
• Experience with field education coordination or supervision
