The Department of Health Sciences (HSC) invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Health Informatics and Management in the CAHIIM-accredited Health Information Management program, titled Health Informatics and Management, beginning August 16, 2027. We seek candidates who are highly qualified and motivated to teach foundational courses in health information management and health informatics, to develop a research program, and to engage in service activities that support the department, college, university, and profession.
A successful candidate will be expected to pursue cross-functional, integrative curriculum development and to incorporate a pedagogical approach that involves students in authentic experiential learning.
Candidates will be expected to teach courses such as data analytics, revenue cycle management, healthcare law, healthcare quality, healthcare finance, health information systems, and other courses to support the Department of Health Sciences. Candidates will be expected to develop a focused area of research, including publication in referred journals, and provide service to the campus and professional communities. For consideration at the associate level, applicants should have an appropriate record of teaching excellence and scholarship.
The position is a nine-month, tenure track appointment with the possibility of summer teaching. Salary and rank are commensurate with Qualifications And Experience. The Locus Of Annual Evaluation, Tenure, and promotion in rank will be in the Department of Health Sciences.

There are 17 tenure and non-tenure track faculty members, a full-time academic advisor, a student success coordinator, and one civil service support staff in the department. The Department of Health Sciences has an on-line Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree that was started in Fall 2023. The Department houses the Central Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC). The HSC faculty and staff are committed to student-centered departmental and programmatic excellence.
