ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, OR FULL PROFESSOR OF PATHOLOGY
(University Medical Line or Clinician Educator Line)

The Department of Pathology at Stanford University seeks an outstanding MD or MD/PhD with expertise in a surgical pathology subspecialty and/or cytopathology to join the Department at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the University Medical Line or Clinician Educator Line. Board eligibility in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology is required. We are interested in candidates who have subspecialty fellowship training in a wide variety of specialties, including cytopathology, head and neck, cardiothoracic, medical renal, soft tissue, gastrointestinal, gynecological, pediatric, or urologic pathology.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Successful candidates will join the faculty in the Department of Pathology, which currently includes a Nobel laureate, multiple members of the National Academies, and many other investigators with national and international distinctions. In conjunction with its outstanding research program, the Department of Pathology is responsible annually for over 20 million laboratory tests and 100,000 anatomic pathology specimens, including 2,000 medical renal biopsies, 10,000 non-gynecologic cytology cases and an active pathologist-performed fine needle aspiration biopsy service. The department also plays a key role in educating outstanding graduate students, residents and fellows.

The expected based pay range for this position is:

Assistant Professor: $264,000 – $282,000
Associate Professor: $313,000 – $331,000
Professor: $373,000 – $385,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine's faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
