Job summary

The American Song Archives seeks an Assistant Archivist to support day-to-day operations, accessioning new acquisitions, and creating finding aids. You will assist with reference services and reading room duties, helping to manage both physical and digital collections.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, experience with ArchivesSpace and archival standards, and the ability to collaborate across teams on processing and exhibitions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a library/archival program or related field with archival training
• Strong written and verbal communication with donors and researchers
• Knowledge of archival standards (DACS, EAD) and ArchivesSpace
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
• Experience with accessioning, finding aids, and collections management

Responsibilities

• Accession new acquisitions and create accession records in ArchivesSpace
• Prepare DACS-compliant finding aids and update finding aids
• Assist with reference services and reading room duties
• Collaborate on space planning, environmental monitoring, and policy development
