  • Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture, Engineering, or related field. A Master's in Historic Preservation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support PMs and SPMs in management and execution of architectural projects.
  • Coordinate with consultants, and ensure milestones, budget, and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and revise drawings, construction documents, and specifications; assist with regulatory filings (NYC DOB, LPC).
  • Observe site conditions, document field observations, and support site inspections.
  • Sketch and draft site plans, elevations, and details with building construction knowledge.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities to meet deadlines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with project filings and ensure compliance with local codes and filing deadlines.
  • Foster collaboration across internal teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors.

Job description

The Assistant Architectural Project Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in New York, NY, with some flexibility to work from home.

We are seeking someone proactive, self-driven, and eager to support the day-to-day management of architectural projects from schematic design through construction administration and project closeout. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, collaborative individual with strong drawing and drafting skills, a solid understanding of building construction, and a passion for problem-solving.

Required Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in architecture, construction management, or related field. Prior experience with architectural project management, drafting, or construction documents is required.
Education:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field. A Master's Degree in Historic Preservation is preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Experience with Adobe Suite programs, Rhino, and rendering programs is preferred.
  • Strong drafting skills and experience in the production of architectural drawings, details, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with building envelope design and construction, including construction methods and materials.
  • Experience assisting with regulatory filings and documentation for agencies such as NYC DOB, LPC, and other local authorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) is a bonus.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Support: Assist Project Managers (PMs) and Senior Project Managers (SPMs) in the management and execution of architectural projects, including drafting, preparing documentation, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring that the project stays on track, within budget, and meets all milestones.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth communication and effective project delivery. Coordinate tasks and resolve issues as they arise, ensuring a seamless workflow across all project phases.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and revise architectural drawings, construction documents, and project specifications. Assist with the preparation of documents for regulatory filings, including the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) and Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC), ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.
  • Project Observation & Site Visits: Observe existing site conditions and assist with field documentation. Survey and record field conditions, apply insights to project work, and provide support for site inspections as needed.
  • Sketching & Drafting: Utilize excellent sketching and drawing skills to create or revise site plans, elevations, and details. Apply your knowledge of building construction to ensure accuracy and functionality in the designs.
  • Time Management: Effectively manage time, juggling multiple tasks and shifting priorities, while ensuring that deadlines are met and project goals are achieved. You will be expected to jump in as needed, assisting with different aspects of the project as the situation requires.
  • Assist with Project Filings: Help prepare and review documentation for filings with local agencies such as the DOB and LPC. Ensure all documents meet filing requirements and deadlines.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative, transparent work environment by effectively communicating and coordinating with project managers, designers, and other team members. Take initiative to ensure smooth workflow and consistent progress across the project lifecycle.
