Job summary

State of Tennessee invites applications for the Assistant Attorney General – Real Property & Transportation in Chattanooga. The Real Property and Transportation Division handles TDOT property acquisitions and eminent domain matters, with offices in Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Jackson.

Based in Chattanooga, the attorney will argue real property litigation, exercise independent judgment, and coordinate with colleagues across regional offices. A JD and Tennessee bar admission are required.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Affirmed successful negotiation skills or training for same.
• Real estate law experience and jury trial experience a plus.
• Ability to function independently in all aspects of civil litigation, including research and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Representing the State of Tennessee in a variety of real property litigation matters.
• Primary focus on eminent domain litigation on behalf of TDOT.
• Collaborate with regional offices as assigned.
• Travel is required, primarily day trips, within Middle and East Tennessee.
• Conduct self-directed research and analysis for zealous advocacy of the State's property rights.
