Job summary

Partnership with Children seeks an Assistant Afterschool Director to support day-to-day administration and supervision of the Middle School Afterschool Program at South Bronx Academy for Applied Media, in partnership with the Afterschool Director.

You will help hire, train, and supervise staff, manage program and budget development, and maintain program quality and records across multiple sites in New York City.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Arts or Sciences degree, or working toward a Bachelor’s in related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with children under 13.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory/management experience in youth programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; be flexible, organized and proactive.
  • Excellent time management and attention to accuracy and ethics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Afterschool Director to hire, train, supervise staff and volunteers; evaluate staff to meet grant requirements.
  • Develop staff orientation, team huddles, professional development; coordinate schedules.
  • Develop programs addressing physical, recreational and educational needs of participants.
  • Oversee program vendors and subcontractors; ensure compliance with partnerships.
  • Collaborate with school administration to align afterschool programs with school needs.
  • Organize events like Back to School, Open House to strengthen school-community partnerships.
  • Respond to emergencies with proper protocols and documentation; adjust protocols when needed.
  • Perform conflict mediation and crisis intervention as required.
  • Ensure program compliance with NYC SACC, DOH, OCFS and DYCD standards.
  • Maintain enrollment and data entry; manage recruitment and attendance.
  • Maintain timely communication with stakeholders; support special projects.

Partnership with Children is seeking an Assistant Afterschool Director whoalong with the Afterschool Directorwillbe responsible formaintainingthe day-to-day administration and supervision of the Middle School Afterschool Program at South BronxAcademy for Applied Media.The Assistant Director shares responsibility for hiring, training and supervision of staff and volunteers, program, and budget development, andmaintainingprogram quality and records.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with the AfterschoolDirector, hire, train, develop, and directly supervise part-time employees and volunteers, and evaluate program staff to ensure that program goals are in alignmentgrant and funder requirements
  • Assistin the development and facilitation of staff orientation, team huddles, professional development andparticipatein regular staff meetings as well as coordinate program schedules of staff and recipients.
  • Assistwith the developmentofprograms which focus onphysical,recreationaland educational needs of participants
  • Assistswith oversight of program vendors andsub-contractors
  • Work closely withschooladministration to ensure that afterschool programming aligns with the needs of the school community, offering a wide range of enrichment programming
  • Assist theAfterschoolDirector in organizing school events including but not limited to the Annual Back to School Event, Open House, and other school related events that contribute to the collaboration and strengthen theschool and communitypartnership
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies ensuring proper protocols, documentation, follow-up, as well as assessment and when necessary, adjustment ofprotocols;procedures;and expectations.
  • Perform conflict mediation and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Ensure program compliancein accordancewithSACC)NYCPS, DOH,OCFS and DYCD
  • Ensure that enrollment ismaintainedincluding systems of recruitment, attendance, and dataentry
  • Maintainstimelyand consistent communication withallappropriatestakeholders.
  • Completes other duties and leads special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Associate of Arts Degree or Associate of Sciences Degree, or working toward aBachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education,Psychologyor related fields
  • At least 2yearsofexperienceworking with children under the age of 13
  • At least 2 years of supervisory and management experience developing and implementing youth and community development programs, stafftrainingand development
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to navigate and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, flexible,organizedand can-do attitude
  • Excellent time management skills, coupled witha strong senseof urgency to get things done without sacrificing accuracy and ethical behavior
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook, Canva, Zoom, Adobe PDF Editor
  • Knowledge of DYCD CONNECT is a plus

Salary & Hours:

$60,000.00to 65,000.00 Annually

Full Time/Year-round position

Assistant Director's schedule varies based on program needs:40 hourwork week,typically10:00am-6:00pm. Must be available to work evenings and Saturdays(as needed); school holidays,andschool recesses
