Job summary

Young World Physical Education in Indiana seeks an Assistant Activities Leader to help run athletics, sport and recreation programs for students including beginners, with a focus on safety and inclusion.

You will collaborate with teachers, parents and district staff; recruit coaches, plan events, fundraise, and support student-athletes to develop both academic and athletic skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Coaching experience (preferred).
  • CPR/First Aid Certified and AED Trained (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Help organize activities to increase sport and recreation options at the school.
  • Secure additional help to implement scheduled, on-site activities in partnership with district athletics.
  • Partner with and build relationships with middle school and high school athletic leadership in your neighborhood/partner schools.
  • Communicate use of the facilities and all maintenance issues with engineering staff and Buildings & Grounds to ensure safe, quality playing conditions.
  • Recruit coaches when necessary.
  • Help manage the athletic site and infrastructure during the school year.
  • Fundraise for and manage the athletics department budget with the approval of administration.
  • Run parent meetings for all sports and communicate changes or concerns to parents.
  • Help recruit, improve and maintain quality student-athletes who are strong in academics and sports.
  • Distribute and manage paperwork for communicating, organizing and reporting.
  • Arrange for additional support staff for after-school athletic and sport events.
  • Strive for improvement through knowledge, skill development, and opportunities available for growth.
  • Work with diverse individuals and stakeholders to maintain and improve programs.
  • Understand and apply SBCSC Code of Conduct for students in sport and athletic activities.

Salary Range: Stipend - $1,101.00

Position Summary

To help run a successful athletics, sport and recreation program where all are expected to thrive as well as beginners. To create an opportunity for as many students as possible to develop the skills needed to be a successful student‑athletes in a competitive world. To continue on the path of success and to work in conjunction with the district’s missions and goals, including regular communication and coordination with teachers, parents, athletes, support personnel, and administration is necessary.

Qualifications

  2. Coaching experience (preferred).

Duties
  1. Responsible for helping organize activities directed at increasing sport and recreation options and access at the school.
  2. Secure any additional help to implement scheduled, on‑site activities in partnership with district athletics.
  3. Partner with and build relationships with middle school and high school athletic leadership in your neighborhood/partner schools.
  4. Communicate use of the facilities and all maintenance issues with the engineering staff as well as the corporation Buildings & Grounds department to ensure safe, quality playing conditions.
  5. Recruit coaches when necessary.
  6. Help manage the athletic site and infrastructure during the school year.
  7. Fundraise for and manage the athletics department budget with the approval of administration.
  8. Run parent meetings if necessary for all sports and communicate on a regular basis with parents about changes or concerns (Website, Lion’s Roar, Dialer, etc.).
  9. Help recruit, improve and maintain quality student‑athletes within the school. Athletes are expected to be strong students in the classroom, behave appropriately, and gain skill development for academics, athletics and life.
  10. Help distribute and manage any paperwork for communicating, organizing and reporting.
  11. Arrange for any additional support staff needed for afterschool athletic and sport related events.
  12. The athletic coordinator should strive for improvement through increased knowledge, skill development, and taking advantage of opportunities available for athletic coordinator growth.
  13. Must work with a variety of individuals and stakeholders in order to maintain and improve the programs.
  14. Understand and apply SBCSC Code of Conduct for students participating in sport and athletic activities.
Physical Requirements
  1. Requires prolonged sitting, standing, and/or walking.
  2. Routinely requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects and equipment.
  3. Must work indoors and outdoors regardless of the weather.
  4. Must work long and sometimes irregular hours.

Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to handle stress. Must work regularly scheduled hours.
