Job summary

Granville Health System is seeking an Assistant Activities Director to enhance residents' quality of life through tailored activities, engagement, and therapeutic programs. You will design schedules, lead diverse activities, and work closely with nursing, dietary, and social services to provide coordinated care.

The role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, experience in senior care, and the ability to adapt to residents with varying cognitive and physical abilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor’s in recreational therapy, gerontology, human services, or related field preferred.
• Experience in senior care, long-term care, or recreational programming is strongly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with residents of varying cognitive and physical abilities.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly activity schedules tailored to residents’ abilities and interests.
• Facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities, including arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, social events, and educational programs.
• Encourage resident participation and maintain individualized activity plans consistent with personal preferences and care plans.
• Document resident participation and progress, complying with regulatory standards and facility policies.
• Support special events, outings, and holiday celebrations.
• Collaborate with nursing, dietary, and social services teams to ensure coordinated resident care.
• Assist in maintaining safe, accessible, and engaging activity spaces and equipment.
• Stay current with industry best practices, trends in recreational therapy, and applicable regulatory requirements.
