The United States Agency for Global Media is seeking a supervisory journalist for the Office of Cuba Broadcasting to lead coverage, coordinate assignments, and ensure accurate, timely reporting on Cuba and related regions.
You will work with editors, assign coverage to correspondents and freelancers, and oversee final text and audiovisual reports while meeting program deadlines and national security requirements.
Applicant must be eligible for an Excepted Service appointment under Schedule B, 213.3228. This appointment authority requires that the selectee have extensive knowledge of Cuba, including its people, culture, history, politics, economics, and current events. This extensive knowledge MUST be clearly articulated in your resume to receive consideration.
Screen out factor: Applicant must have fluency in both English and Spanish languages that enables you to speak, read, write, report, and translate in both languages. This language screen out factor MUST be listed in your resume to receive consideration.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-12 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience, which is clearly documented in the resume and application, and which demonstrates that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and includes all of the following:
