The Asset Tagging Technician is responsible for identifying, verifying, documenting, and labeling building and facility assets during construction, commissioning, and turnover phases of projects. This role supports owners, contractors, and facility management teams by ensuring equipment information is accurately collected, tagged, and entered into project databases, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in active construction environments while coordinating with commissioning agents, contractors, engineers, and facility personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty systems.
- Verify equipment against construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and owner asset lists.
- Identify assets requiring owner asset tags, QR codes, barcodes, or CMMS integration.
- Confirm equipment locations, naming conventions, and system associations.
- Install company or owner-provided asset tags, barcode labels, and QR code labels on applicable equipment.
- Ensure tags are securely mounted and visible in accordance with project standards.
- Verify tag numbers match project databases and turnover documentation.
- Document installed tags through photographs and electronic records.

- Coordinate corrections with contractors, commissioning staff, and project management teams.
- Ensure compliance with owner requirements and project turnover standards.
Project Support
- Assist commissioning agents during system verification and turnover activities.
- Participate in project meetings as required.
- Provide progress updates and status reports to project leadership.
Qualification Requirements:
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to read construction drawings, equipment schedules, and floor plans.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and mobile data collection applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to walk large facilities and construction sites for extended periods.
- Proficiency with mobile devices, tablets, and digital documentation platforms.
Preferred
- Experience in commissioning, construction, facility management, maintenance, or asset management.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
- Experience with CMMS software, BIM systems, or facility asset databases.
- Associate degree or technical training in construction management, engineering technology, facilities management, or related field.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and access mechanical rooms and rooftops.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in active construction environments.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Education and Experience:
