Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a closely related field.
  • 4 years of experience in pricing mechanisms, supply and demand dynamics, and regional market behaviors in the U.S. and Mexico.
  • Experience with natural gas infrastructure (pipelines, storage, LNG terminals) and familiarity with ETRM tools and ICE Exchange.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal predictions for natural gas demand and translate those predictions into pricing strategies.
  • Analyze regional market dynamics to optimize asset positions and pipeline logistics.
  • Collaborate with bench origination, market analytics, and other teams to build out and execute asset strategy for Mexico Team and South Texas region.
  • Facilitate cross-border communication and relationship management with stakeholders in the South Texas and Mexico Regions.

Job Title: Asset Optimization Engineer

Location: 201 Helios Way, Houston, TX 77079 (May work from home on a hybrid schedule within 50 miles of Houston, TX)

Duties

Support internal predictions for natural gas demand and translate those predictions into pricing strategies. Leverage knowledge of energy production and operations including the chemical make-up of natural gas, heat content, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon and determine how the chemical make-up affects natural gas transportation in the pipeline to optimize processes and logistics. Monitor the necessary volumes and surpluses in the region and perform market analysis to identify fluctuations of costs of natural gas. Facilitate optimization of existing and new assets in the portfolio by providing expertise in pipeline optimization engineering. Work closely with the rest of the bench origination, market analytics and other teams to build-out, and execute on, the Mexico Team and South Texas gas asset strategy. Facilitate cross-border communication and relationship management with stakeholders in the South Texas and Mexico Regions. May work from home on a hybrid schedule within 50 miles of Houston, TX. 5% domestic and international travel required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a closely related field plus four (4) years of experience utilizing the following: In-depth knowledge of and analyzing pricing mechanisms, supply and demand dynamics, and regional market behaviors in both the U.S. and Mexico. Experience to include two (2) years with natural gas infrastructure, including pipelines, storage facilities, LNG terminals, power plants, hubs, and their interconnectivity to optimize asset positions, forecast demand, and evaluate market access; utilizing Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) tools to manage positions, transactions, logistics, and risk exposure; utilizing the ICE Exchange platform for executing trades and monitoring market activity; familiarity with financial and physical natural gas products, including the ability to buy, sell, hedge, and manage trading positions; and applying historical context of business environment for Mexico based counterparties to grow and maintain customer footprint in Mexico.
