Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government seeks a dedicated sergeant-level support for legal condemnations and property seizure processes. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Initiates, prepares, and finalizes legal condemnation documents to seize property for the Columbus Police Department Narcotics.
• Performs lien holder checks, title searches, and stolen vehicle status on all seized vehicles.
• Contacts lien holders and owners to obtain information and determine whether to proceed with forfeiture or release.
• Applies for titles on seized and fleet vehicles; applies for confidential tags and maintains registrations.
• Enters all drugs and property seized into the Narcotics and Vice database for monthly reports.
• Reviews and approves employee travel and training requests, coordinating arrangements per departmental policies.
• Travels to related offices and agencies to obtain signatures and information; delivers forfeiture files and acts as liaison between agencies.
• Coordinates the sale of property and vehicles received through court order for government auction.
• Receives and communicates drug, prostitution, gambling, and other complaints to appropriate personnel.
• Prepares letters, memos, charts, and requests; manages all correspondence including subpoenas.
• Orders and maintains supplies and equipment; answers the telephone and routes calls.
• Appears in federal and state courts to provide testimony regarding seized documents and property.
• Prepares purchase orders; reviews invoices; obtains quotes and writes equipment specs for accounts payable.
