Job summary

True North Recovery Inc. is seeking a qualified clinician to perform comprehensive behavioral health assessments and diagnose substance use and mental health disorders.

You will coordinate electronic health records and referrals to support continuity of care, working with a multidisciplinary team. The role requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field, and the ability to pursue licensure or already pursuing licensure.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field.
• Willingness to pursue licensure or current licensure.
• Experience with biopsychosocial assessments preferred.
• Experience in substance abuse or mental health field desired.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Performs comprehensive clinical assessments, establishes diagnostic criteria for substance use and mental health disorders, and coordinates electronic health records and referral services.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes integrated behavioral health assessments and diagnoses substance use disorders using the DSM-V-TR / ICD 10 criteria.
• Collaborates with supervisor to ensure all diagnostic assessments are reviewed as needed if the assessment clinician does not have an independent license and/or experience to diagnose, per TNR policy.
• Utilizes ASAM criteria to determine appropriate level of care.
• Communicates assessment outcomes and treatment recommendations effectively with multidisciplinary teams to support continuity of care.
• Protects client confidentiality and maintains accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with True North Recovery, Inc. policies and procedures.
• Adheres to confidentiality requirements and safeguards client privacy while conducting virtual and in person assessments in accordance with applicable regulations and True North Recovery, Inc. policies and procedures.
• Provides individual and group therapy, collateral interventions, and crisis intervention using evidence-based techniques and methodologies approved by the department.
• Demonstrates schedule flexibility to support program needs, including the ability to provide services in person and conduct on-site assessments during weekends, as needed.
• Effectively orients the client to the facility/program(s) as needed by providing information including, but not limited to: rule infractions that may result in termination, the hours of service.
• Uses the appropriate forms and instrumentation to assess client’s strengths and weaknesses.
• Gathers relevant information pertaining to diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment recommendations.
• Coordinates the delivery of service provisions. Acts as an advocate in accessing other needed services.
• Identifies and responds to crises that may negatively impact treatment and where possible, uses the negative events to enhance treatment efforts. Initiates contact with Crisis Intervention Counselor, as indicated, for support and/or intervention.
• Adheres to True North Recovery’s Mission and Vision Statements.
• Maintains familiarity with current and available TNR services and their limitations, the procedures for making referrals, and the confidentiality requirements inherent to the referral process so that resources are used to benefit clients.
• Recognizes the need for case consultation with supervisors by participating in case reviews, maintaining contact with referring professionals, and seeking assistance in matters that exceed the Clinician's level of expertise and/or scope of practice.
• Assists in providing coverage of Intensive and Non-Intensive Outpatient services as needed and based uponthe counselor’s level of expertise.
• Identifies program needs and suggests improvements to the assessment process to Managers.
• Manages time and organizes work demands appropriately.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field.
• Must be willing to work towards licensure and/or already working towards licensure.
• Experience in conducting biopsychosocial assessments is preferred.
• Experience and knowledge in substance abuse or mental health field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role is primarily performed in an office building with standard office environment and controlled temperatures. When working outdoors or at a job site the employee may be exposed to construction equipment or other moving objects/equipment; reference job site specifics. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk/hear, see, read, and personally interact with others.
