The Assessment Support Specialist plays a vital role in this mission by assisting district schools in incorporating a student-centered system of data-driven instruction and intervention. This position focuses on closing the achievement gap in reading by continuously training and supporting site staff in the effective use of assessment and progress monitoring, ensuring every student has the opportunity to master grade-level standards and curriculum over time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assessment Software Training & Capacity Building

Performance Objective and Success Standards: Deliver comprehensive training to diverse staff groups to ensure technical proficiency and self-sufficiency in utilizing district assessment platforms.

  • 90% of trained staff demonstrate competency in navigating software and accessing Benchmark reports independently.
  • Training sessions are rated as "highly effective" in post-session evaluations by at least 85% of participants.
Benchmark & Survey Level Assessment (SLA) Facilitation

Performance Objective and Success Standards: Guide the standardized implementation of Benchmark testing and Survey Level Assessments to ensure data integrity and instructional relevance.

  • 100% of Benchmark testing windows are completed within district-mandated timelines across assigned sites.
  • SLA procedures are applied with 100% adherence to district protocols, minimizing testing irregularities or data errors.
Progress Monitoring & Caseload Management

Performance Objective and Success Standards: Maintain rigorous oversight of student progress monitoring data, ensuring intervention accuracy and timely system updates.

  • 100% of intervention descriptions and scoring updates are entered into the system within 48 hours of assessment.
  • Caseload audits reveal zero unresolved data discrepancies or missing scoring entries at the end of each reporting period.
Data-Driven Goal Setting & Instructional Support

Performance Objective and Success Standards: Partner with educators to translate assessment data into actionable student goals and clear performance expectations.

  • Goal-setting sessions result in documented, measurable student growth targets for 100% of monitored caseloads.
  • Effective "score-to-intervention" mapping is verified through a measurable increase in the alignment of classroom interventions with assessment results.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Site Communication

Performance Objective and Success Standards: Foster a collaborative environment through active participation in school-wide planning and proactive communication with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Attendance and active facilitation at 100% of scheduled grade-level, staff, and school-wide plan meetings.
  • Resolution of site-level assessment issues occurs within 24 hours of initial communication or identification.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • Valid Arizona Standard Teaching Certificate.
  • Experience working with teachers and site-based teams
  • Experience and training in data management
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Master’s Degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience teaching K-8.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of:
  • Purpose and functions of web-based assessment management systems
  • Subcomponents and processes of assessment and how to select data for specific purposes.
  • Educational data systems and the flexibility required for their integration
Skilled in:
  • Utilizing existing and new technologies to advance assessment goals.
  • Providing multi-level training to staff with varying technology skill levels.
  • Time management and scheduling training appointments in a timely manner.
Ability to:
  • Work cooperatively with a wide variety of co-employees.
  • Self-manage a significant workload and schedule independently.
  • Communicate complex assessment information clearly to diverse school staff.
