Westpark Springs in Richmond, TX is seeking an Assessment Specialist (LPC, LMSW, or LCSW) to join our behavioral health program. You will perform comprehensive assessments, triage safety, coordinate admissions, and support the clinical team to ensure timely access to care for adults, adolescents, and families.

Qualifications include a Master's in social work or counseling, current licensure, and strong clinical assessment skills.

Qualifications

• Education: Master's degree in social work or counseling required.
• Experience: Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred; strong clinical assessment skills.
• License: Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, or per state guidelines; valid driver's license with proof of insurance when using own vehicle.
• CPR and CPI certification within 30 days; may require flexible hours and overtime; may perform vitals checks.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates initial response to service requests, including assessment, referrals, and admission designation.
• Conducts initial evaluation, documents symptoms and needs, and provides information for LOC determination.
• Demonstrates strong customer service while assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and staff.
• Maintains preadmission and admission paperwork and completes pre-certification with insurers.
• Coordinates with clinical team and on-call physicians to meet patient needs.

How You'll Contribute

• Receives inquiry calls and assists the caller with scheduling a face‑to‑face, phone, or tele‑assessment- Triages individuals based on safety risk.
• Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment.
• Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions.
• Performs a comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on‑call physician to ensure these needs are met at the facility or other appropriate community providers.
• Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment.
• Completes the administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers, as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

• Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow‑up activity.
• Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
• Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
• Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre‑certification with insurance companies.

Qualifications And Requirements

• Education: Master's degree in social work or counseling required.
• Experience: Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred. Must have strong clinical assessment skills.
• License: Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, or per state of practice guidelines. Valid driver's license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance when using own auto.
• Additional Requirements: CPR and CPI certified within 30 days. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime and have the ability to meet typing keyboard expectations. With proper credentials, Specialist may be required to complete vitals check on patients.
