Westpark Springs, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks an Assessment Specialist (LPC, LMSW, or LCSW) in Richmond, TX to provide comprehensive assessments and coordinate care for adults, adolescents, and children with psychiatric or substance use disorders.

You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering inpatient and outpatient services, including PHP/IOP, with 24/7 availability for assessments and admissions. This PRN role emphasizes compassionate, person-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in social work or counseling.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred; strong clinical assessment skills.
  • License: Current unencumbered clinical social work or counseling license; valid driver’s license and favorable MVR; proof of insurance when using own auto.
  • CPR and CPI certification within 30 days; may require flexible hours/overtime; ability to meet typing keyboard expectations; vitals check on patients if credentialed.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates response to a request for services, including initial response, assessment, referral process, designation of level of care, admission, and follow-up.
  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates assessment, documents patient symptoms, functioning, needs, and provides information for LOC determination.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service to patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Possesses knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and EMTALA.
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes pre-certification with insurance companies.

How you'll contribute:
  • Receives inquiry calls and assists the caller with scheduling a face-to-face, phone, or tele-assessment-Triages individuals based on safety risk.
  • Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment.
  • Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions.
  • Performs a comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on-call physician to ensure these needs are met at the facility or other appropriate community providers.
  • Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment.
  • Completes the administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers, as necessary.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
  • Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre‑certification with insurance companies.
Qualifications and requirements:
  • Education: Master's degree in social work or counseling required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred. Must have strong clinical assessment skills.
  • License: Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, or per state of practice guidelines. Valid driver's license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance when using own auto.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR and CPI certified within 30 days. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime and have the ability to meet typing keyboard expectations. With proper credentials, Specialist may be required to complete vitals check on patients.
