Job summary

Renewal seeks an Assessment Specialist-Outpatient AOD to manage diagnostic assessments and coordinate referrals for clients in its Pittsburgh program.

You will liaise with counselors, case managers and referrals to ensure accurate documentation, proper authorization and timely payment handling while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services or related field with minimum two (2) years' experience required.
  • Certification preferred. Act 33/34 required.
  • Writing skills and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite to employment.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 Codes and DSM-V.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and substance dependence.
  • Must be computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and completes AOD diagnostic assessments for clients referred to Renewal outpatient drug and alcohol program.
  • Make appropriate recommendations for level of care and coordinate referrals to ensure proper documentation and authorization.
  • Communicate information between client, referral sources, finance office, counselors and Case Managers to meet plan of care.
  • Schedule initial appointment with assigned AOD Counselor and follow up on referrals.
  • Ensure clients are adequately funded through authorizing services for payment in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold high ethics in all duties.

Salary Range: $18.75 To $24.27 Annually

Definition: Schedules and completes AOD diagnostic assessments for clients referred to Renewal outpatient drug and alcohol program. This individual will make appropriate recommendations for needed level of care and coordinate referrals to ensure receipt of proper documentation and authorization pursuant to service delivery as well as ensures clients are properly orientated to the program. Other responsibilities include communicating appropriate information between client, referral sources, finance office, counselors and Case Managers to ensure that client's needs are met through the plan of care. This includes the scheduling of initial appointment with assigned AOD Counselor and follow up on all referrals. Ensure all clients are adequately funded through the authorizing of services for payment in a timely manner. This position requires an ability to maintain strict confidentiality and maintain a high degree of ethics.

Eligibility Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Knowledge and understanding of DSM Diagnostic Criteria and required assessment tools. Knowledge of behavioral codes and billing procedures to include ICD 10 Codes and DSM-V. Knowledge of co-occurring disorders. Demonstrat4ed ability to work effectively and efficiently, multi-task, self-starting, motivated, and adept to changing technology, conducting research; must be computer literate. Writing skills and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite to employment. Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and substance dependence needed for this position.
