Job summary

Lincoln County is seeking a friendly, front-facing Assessment Specialist to assist the public in person, by phone, email, and mail from the Depoe Bay / Newport area. Positions AS2 or AS3 depend on experience, with starting wage details per hour and a comprehensive benefits package available.

The role includes heavy data entry, complex database queries, and processing public requests for manufactured home changes. Education requires a HS diploma; AS3 prefers several years in an Assessor’s Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AS2 requires 3 years of progressively responsible clerical experience.
• AS3 requires 5 years of progressively responsible clerical experience; AS3 preferred with 3 years in an Assessor’s Office.
• College coursework in secretarial science, business administration, computer science or related field is desirable.

The Lincoln County Assessor's Office is currently looking for a friendly and engaging individual to take on the front-facing, customer service role ofAssessment Specialist.

We are currently looking to hire an Assessment Specialist 2 or3 depending on experience.

ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST 2 (AS2) starting at $24.26 per hour*

ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST 3 (AS3) starting at $26.24 per hour*

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

AS2: Three years of progressively responsible computer, secretarial, and clerical experience.

AS3: Five years of progressively responsible computer, secretarial, and clerical experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

College coursework in secretarial science, business administration, computer science or related field is highly desirable.

AS3: Three years in an Assessor’s Office preferred.

Knowledge of/Ability to:

• Considerable to extensive knowledge and comprehension of office procedures, property tax laws, mapping system, legal descriptions, assessment procedures and record systems used in an Assessor’s office.
• General knowledge of appraisals methods, legal instruments and chain of title.
• Advanced skill in operating office equipment, computer equipment and software and making complex mathematical calculations.
• Skill in written and oral communications, making complex mathematical calculations, reading legal instruments and descriptions and numerical as well as alpha filing.
