Job summary

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is seeking a Fabrication Mechanic - Assembler (Trainee) to join our manufacturing team. The role involves fabricating metal tubing for hydraulic, pneumatic, waste and exhaust systems, with tasks from cutting to polishing per specifications.

The position requires reading blueprints, using hand tools, and performing quality checks. Shifts include 1st and 2nd with differential pay. This is a trainee pathway with growth opportunities in a lean, production environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read blueprints and process sheets to fabricate metal tubes.
• Capable of using hand tools, measuring instruments, and performing quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Performs visual and dimensional checks on materials, assemblies, tube details, components and finished products.
• Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, salvages parts from assemblies and repairs tube assemblies and fixtures.
• Uses hand tools to prepare hoses for assembly, attach fittings, and apply RTV as needed.
• Sets up and operates swager, crimper, and other abrasive or sizing equipment.
• Lifts, positions, and moves work pieces; reads blueprints and process sheets to manufacture tubes.
• Measures dimensions and performs quality tests; maintains references and marks for layout.
• Keeps work area clean; stacks and transports stock, tools, and dies; ensures timely completion.

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for a Fabrication Mechanic - Assembler (Trainee) to join the team. This position involves the fabrication of metal tubing both rigid and flexible, for a multitude of operations, by cutting, grinding, forming, de-burring, cleaning, swaging, and polishing according to specifications, for use in hydraulic fuel, pneumatic, waste and exhaust installations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with reasonable accommodation when necessary.

1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:45AM to 3:15PM

2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday, 3:15PM to 1:45AM with $1.00 Shift Differential

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs visual and dimensional checks on materials, assemblies, tube details, components and finished products.
• Plans, lay out, fabricate, assembles, install, salvage parts from assemblies and repair rigid and/or flexible tube assemblies, fixtures, equipment, and products by performing the following duties.
• Perform various functions by hand and utilizes hand tools to prepare hose for assembly including removing rubber to buff back ends for fittings, connect fittings to hose, apply RTV, and other assembly preparations
• Sets up and operates abrasive, squaring, deburring, and sizing equipment such as swager or crimper.
• Lifts, positions, and removes work pieces from machines.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, method sheets, process sheets, policies and procedures to manufacture a variety of rigid and flexible metal tubes.
• Measures angular dimensions, radii, contours, clearances, thread lead, wall thickness, and other specifications. Performs a variety of quality tests per procedures.
• Holds tape and rods and marks reference points to assist in layout.
• Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process.
• Attaches clamps to position work piece to be cut.
• Cleans and blows out dust, particles, and metal shavings from work piece prior to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
