Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Lenexa, KS is seeking an Assembly/Test IV - Team Lead to oversee mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, testing, and fabrication operations, ensuring precision and adherence to safety standards.

You will read drawings, operate tools, manage materials, perform quality checks, and address defects while supporting continuous workflow and on-site production.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED with 4+ years of experience; travel internationally may be required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. GED) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience maintaining inventory at workstations and ensuring material readiness.
  • Ability to perform quality checks and document defects for corrective action.
  • Capability to rework/repair assembled equipment per engineering changes.
  • Commitment to safety standards and clean, organized work area.
  • Flexibility to stand up to 10 hours and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for training.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Operate hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment, and light equipment efficiently to perform assembly tasks.
  • Maintain inventory of product in assigned workstations, ensuring materials are readily available for ongoing operations.
  • Perform quality work checks, identify product defects, and accurately record identified defects for corrective action.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products based on engineering specification changes to meet quality standards.
  • Adhere to all quality standards and established safety procedures, ensuring compliance and a high standard of work.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, promoting efficiency and safety.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation, ensuring safe material handling.
  • Work in a standing position for up to 10 hours per day, contributing to continuous workflow.
  • Be open to international travel for required training, expanding expertise and ensuring operational excellence.
