Job summary

Optical Cable Corporation in Swannanoa, NC, is seeking an assembly technician to construct mechanical and electrical parts, operate the solder pot, and test final cables. You will read Bills of Materials and shop packs, inspect for defects, and ensure products meet testing standards while maintaining safety procedures.

Hours are Monday–Thursday 6:30 AM–5:00 PM with some schedule flexibility; 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 12 months experience in assembly.
• Must be able to pass Solder Pot Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electronic parts per work instructions/drawings.
• Recognize cosmetic/functional discrepancies on parts/assemblies.
• Operate solder pot per instructions.
• Read Bills of Materials/Shop Packs; follow router and pick list.
• Clean solder pot per safety/operating procedures.
• Perform final assembly and tests on cables.
• Conduct rowing inspection of work in process.
• Inspect assemblies for conformance to standards.
• Ensure product passes testing to standards.
• Load and operate the IDC Insertion Machine.
