Job summary

Strata Worldwide in Canonsburg, PA is seeking an assembler for electronic hardware and prototype circuitry. You will assemble, modify, and repair PCBs, cable assemblies, and control panels, solder fine-pitch components, and build mechanical parts for small to medium devices.

You’ll work from schematics or create procedures as needed and help maintain inventory and safety standards. Requires 2–3 years in electrical assembly, HS diploma or GED, with an associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities are essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication with internal and external customers.
• Ability to draft and update docs using drawing tools when required.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, modifies, and repairs PCBs, cable assemblies, control panels, and related devices.
• Solders fine-pitch surface mount components onto PCBs.
• Assembles mechanical components for small/medium devices.
• Follow or create procedures from docs or verbal instructions as needed.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and order/replenish components.
• Keep work area clean and safe, with proper PPE when required.
• Support teammates during high-demand periods and meet deadlines.
• Other duties or projects as assigned.

Job description

I. Summary/Purpose

This position will be responsible for the assembly, modification and repair of electronic hardware and prototype electronic circuitry for Strata Worldwide.

Ii. Target Responsibilities

• Assembles, modifies, and repairs printed circuit boards (PCBs), cable assemblies, control panels, vehicle and personnel carried electronic devices
• Solders fine-pitch surface mount components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs)
• Responsible for assembly of mechanical components for small and medium scale devices
• Ability to work from electronic and mechanical assembly documentation, wiring schematics, or create own written procedures when given verbal instructions
• Maintain product inventory accuracy by tracking all material transfers. Order replacement/repair components and maintain inventory of frequently used components and tools on own accord
• Observes good housekeeping and safety procedures and keeps equipment, tools and work area clean. Maintains a well-organized stock of replacement components
• Exhibit teamwork in all you do, maintaining a positive and team based attitude. Support peers in time of high demand by working hours assigned and overtime as required
• Completes work in a timely manner to ensure customer needs are fulfilled and deadlines are met
• As necessary, other duties and/or projects may be assigned

Iii. Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited institution
• Associates degree from an accredited institution in Electronics Engineering Technology(EET) preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in an electrical assembly or manufacturing setting
• 2-3 years printed circuit boards (PCBs) soldering experience
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
• IPC training or certification a plus

Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

• Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills essential
• Ability to identify and solve problems
• Incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to deal with both internal and external customers
• Ability to draft and update documentation as required using one or more of the following tools: Visio, Inventor, Solid Works, or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Must have excellent planning/organization and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently with light oversight
• Must possess a strong attention to detail

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

LOCATION

• Canonsburg, PA
• Remote work is not available

TRAVEL

The incumbent will be able to occasionally travel to other Strata and customer sites as required. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
• Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
• Must be able to lift and or move up to 50 lbs or more
• Must have excellent vision, distant and peripheral, with the ability to identify and distinguish colors, use a microscope for fine detail work, and adjust focus
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required during the operation of certain machinery or tools

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Typical office environment, however, the incumbent may be subject to a variety of physical conditions, such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat and/or exposure to chemicals
• Candidate will be authorized to procure equipment, tools, and safety equipment and modify procedures as required to perform all duties in a safe manner
