Stellar Technology in Amherst, NY is seeking a full-time assembler to wire electronic components to strain gauges, install electrical modules, and solder PCB components. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; related experience/training acceptable.
  • 3–5 years wiring strain gauges or assembling one product type.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and email applications.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction and good manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire components to strain gauges and electronic feed throughs.
  • Install and assemble electrical modules and perform simple mechanical assembly.
  • Solder through-hole and surface-mount components on PCBs.
  • Inspect own work, perform electrical checks, and verify quality with precision instruments.
  • Follow drawings, instructions, specifications and production control documents; assist with continuous improvement.

Full Time Amherst NY, US


Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.00 Hourly


SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for completing tasks such as: wiring electronic components, wiring to strain gauges, electrical module installation and assembly, through-hole and surface mount component soldering of components on PCBs; inspecting your work; making adjustments to correct difficulties; performing basic electrical checks; using precision measuring instruments to verify work quality; working from detailed drawings, work instructions, specifications and production control documents. This position is also responsible for quality, training, work distribution, and continual improvement.


DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES:


  • Works in a manner that meets or exceeds established effectivity goals of the facility.

  • Manufactures high-quality products meeting quality specifications and workmanship standards.

  • Performs the following tasks:

  • Wiring:

    • Wiring to strain gauges.

    • Wiring to electronic components and feed throughs.


  • Electronics:

    • Electrical module installation and assembly.

    • Simple mechanical assembly.

    • Resistor winding and assembly.

    • Electronic component installation.

    • Electrical harness wiring and cable construction.


  • Modules:

    • Through-hole component soldering of components on PCB’s.

    • Surface mount component soldering of components on PCB’s.


  • Inspects own work and makes adjustments to correct difficulties.

  • Performs basic electrical checks and use precision measuring instruments to verify work quality.

  • Works from detailed drawings, work instructions, specifications, and production control documents.

  • Possesses basic computer skills; performs data entry for production reporting and attendance and retrieves information electronically.

  • Ensures proper waste disposal procedures are followed for handling residual and/or hazardous waste.

  • Places waste in the properly labeled container(s).

  • Follows safety procedures; uses proper PPE; attends training and reports any spills.

  • Works safely, performs required housekeeping tasks, and actively participates in all plant safety directives while adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures.

  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.

  • Ability to work overtime.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Attain J Standard Certification during 1 st year of employment.

  • 3 – 5 years of experience or capable in wiring strain gauge or assembly of one product type.

  • Ability to learn and apply basic technical concepts.

  • Able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to promote strong working relationships and create an environment focused on teamwork.

  • Flexible with work and job assignments and willing to perform any function as needed.

  • Possess basic computer skills including database software and electronic mail software.

  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction, and no color blindness, steady hands with good dexterity. (Company issued annual eye exam.)
