The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state‑of‑the‑art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges

Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non‑repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables.

  • Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed. May conduct quality inspections on processing lines in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and sub‑assemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.
  • Work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. to assemble and install parts and assemblies to quality requirements.
  • Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate assembly progression.
  • Set up and perform all manual and automated assembly operations, and portable machine functions required to accomplish assignments.
  • Perform any and all required pickup, rework, fabrication, change in corporation, functional testing or check during or after final assembly and/or assembly progression.
  • Move and/or obtain correct parts, materials, tools, assemblies, etc.
  • Use precision measuring instruments required to accomplish work assignments.
  • Report and/or investigate job handicaps such as errors in parts, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc.
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of daily work duties (e.g., replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels).
  • Routinely move product within the immediate manufacturing work area, including across aisles, using shop‑assigned equipment as required, and complete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation. On an exception basis, move product to the next operation within a building.
  • Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training, coaching and assisting other employees.
  • Document any discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure.
  • Train to become MVP qualified.
  • Other duties as assigned and additional responsibilities as required by leadership. Training and certification will be provided for the additional work when required.
Qualified Experience and Training

  • 2 years minimum experience in aviation production or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torquing tools.
  • Must be able and willing to work any shift to include working overtime as needed.

Preferred

  • 5+ years minimum experience in aviation production.

  • Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lb/14 kg weekly.
  • Pushing / Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools weekly.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer daily.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving weekly.
  • Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor daily.
  • Travel: 5 % able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
  • Must not be afraid of heights and can work on elevated platforms as high as 40 feet in the air.
