Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Assembly Technician to join our Operations department based in Kinston, NC.

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges
Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables.
- Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
- Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed. May conduct quality inspections on processing lines in accordance with quality specifications.
- May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and sub-assemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.
The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to perform all necessary job functions including:
- Work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. to assemble and install to quality requirements parts and assemblies.
- Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate assembly progression.
- Setup and perform all manual and automated assembly operations, and portable machine functions required to accomplish assignments.
- Perform any and all required pickup, rework, fabrication, change in corporation, functional testing or check during or after final assembly and/or assembly progression
- Move and/or obtain correct parts, materials, tools, assemblies, etc.
- Use precision measuring instruments required to accomplish work assignments.
- Report and/or investigate job handicaps such as: errors in parts, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc.
- Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g., replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties).
- Routinely move product within the immediate manufacturing work area, including across aisle, using shop assigned equipment as required, and complete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation. On an exception basis, move product to the next operation within a building.
- Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training, coaching and assisting other employees.
- Document any discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure.
- Trains to become MVP qualified.
- In addition, each employee may be asked, on occasion, to complete other duties and responsibilities as required by leadership. Training and certification will be provided for the additional work when required. Additional Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualified Experience and Training
Required
- 2 years’ minimum experience in aviation production or equivalent
- Previous experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torquing tools
- Must be able and willing to work any shift to include working overtime as needed
Preferred
- 5+ years minimum experience in aviation production
Your Boarding Pass
Education: Required
- High School Diploma/GED or Work Keys Assessment completion
- The ability to successfully complete the following training provided by Airbus after recruitment: Health & Safety, General aircraft familiarization, Quality Training
- Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and in application techniques
Experience: Licensure/Certifications
Travel, Citizenship, and Clearance
- Travel Required: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice.
- Citizenship: Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Clearance: N/A
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go / Foreign Object Debris) and OSHA regulations
- Must have basic skills of using a variety of tools
Communication Skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to articulate complex issues to others
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters is essential
- Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills
Technical Systems Proficiency
- Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required)
Personal and Physical Requirements
- Onsite: 100%
- Vision, Hearing, Speaking, and other physical requirements as described (PPE required: safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, gloves)
- Must be willing to work at heights up to 40 feet on elevated platforms
