Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Tooling Maintenance Technician to join our Operations department based in Kinston, NC.

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state‑of‑the‑art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite centre fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges
  • Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings or verbal instructions.
  • Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers and trucks.
  • Assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools.
  • Constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts.
  • Performs root/cause analysis in support reliability processes, and collaborates with vendors, engineering, team leader, customer, other crafts and management to solve equipment problems and develop corrective action.
  • Reworks and maintains tools of all types and materials.
  • Performs routine minor machine maintenance as part of daily work duties (e.g. replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels etc., as related to basic tool preventative maintenance duties).
  • Repairs and builds lay‑up tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Your Boarding Pass
  • Must be able and willing to work any shift to include working overtime as needed.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of production equipment repair.
Education & Training
  • High School Diploma/GED or Work Keys Assessment completion.
  • The ability to successfully complete the following training provided by Airbus after recruitment: Health & Safety; General aircraft familiarisation; Quality.
  • Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of dismantling, moving, installing and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.
Licensure / Certifications
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
Qualified Skills
  • Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go / Foreign Object Debris) and OSHA regulations.
  • Basic skills of using a variety of tools.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues to others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must not be afraid of heights and can work on elevated platforms as high as 40 feet in the air.
Required PPE
  • Safety shoes.
  • Safety glasses.
  • Hearing protection.
  • Respirators/masks.
  • Protective gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
  • Safety glasses, bump caps and safety‑toed shoes must be worn on the manufacturing floor.
Preferred Technical Systems Proficiency
  • Ability to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required).

Physical Requirements
  • Onsite: 100 %.
  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment operation: Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30 lbs (14 kgs).
  • Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs (14 kgs).
  • Pushing / pulling: Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: 5 % able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
