Job summary

PowerSecure is seeking an Assembly Tech I in Randleman, NC to build, wire and assemble generator sets per engineering documents and lead instructions. The role focuses on mechanical setup through final wiring of electrical components.

You will work on-site in a manufacturing environment, read drawings, use hand tools and test equipment, and collaborate with the assembly team. A high school diploma and related assembly experience are preferred, with electrical experience highly valued.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency preferred; education plus experience considered.
  • Must have assembly-related experience including field service and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Able to read measurements to 1/16 inch and use basic hand tools.
  • Electrical experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies per drawings and BOMs.
  • Read schematics to guide wiring of controls and power.
  • Mount genset on skid and assemble components to torque specs.
  • Route wiring, install exhaust, and fabricate CAN harnesses and hoses.
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with team for smooth assembly.

Description

Job Summary:

The primary duties of the Assembly Tech 1 are to build, wire, and assemble generator sets per engineering documents as well as the assembly lead’s instructions. This will include the setting of mechanical components through to the final wiring of the electrical components.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency are preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Must have assembly relatable experience which includes field service, maintenance of heavy equipment maintenance of power generation equipment, mechanical, or general construction experience.
  • Must be able to read measuring devices to the 1/16 th of an inch.
  • Must be proficient using basic hand tools.
  • Electrical experience is highly preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble complex electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies according to drawings, bills of material, schematics, and/or standard procedures.
  • Reference engineering documents and schematics to guide them in the assembling of the mechanical parts and the wiring of the controls and house power.
  • Read/ understand electrical drawing of both house power and communication wiring, properly landing/ labeling wiring in both TCC/ECC and house power panel.
  • Mount Genset on its skid using correct hardware and meeting torque requirements.
  • Mount all stands to skid (ECC, GBC, SCR, disconnect) and setting said components in place.
  • Connect exhaust parts and install them using correct hardware, gaskets and meeting all torque requirements.
  • Make load cables using correct gauge cable, lug, and proper crimp.
  • Fabricate CAN harnesses, fuel line, and block heater hoses.
  • Install all phases of load cables, bend install conduit and assemble def pumps, solenoids, and complex def systems.
  • Electrical wire and cable routing skills and the understanding of standard wiring workmanship as it pertains to quality
  • Proficiency using a crimping tool, stripping tool; and multimeter as well as hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets, torque wrenches)
  • Collaborate and coordinate daily tasks with others to align priorities for smooth assembly operations.
  • Troubleshooting skills are crucial, may be required to drill and tap holes, crimps, screws, bolts, rivets, mount control units, and to provide openings for elements, wiring, and instruments using hand and power tools, machines, and equipment to ensure proper fitment and operation.
  • Additional responsibilities and objectives will be added as needed based on business and area of needs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position will require standing, stooping, bending, and limited lifting of up to 50lbs. Manual dexterity requires the ability to manipulate tools and small parts of machines.

General manufacturing environment which may include non-climate regulated workspaces.
