Job summary

Mercury Marine, headquartered in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, seeks a Quality Technician - Assembly (2nd Shift) to uphold quality assurance in the outboard assembly lines. You will work with cross-functional teams to reduce variation, inspect parts, and contribute to FMEA and control plans.

You will support training, audits, and continuous improvement while ensuring safety and quality standards on the production floor. A strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or equivalent post high school 3+ years in manufacturing.
• Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving ability.
• Detail oriented with strict attention to specifications.
• Strong math and basic statistics skills.
• Proficient Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of manufacturing assembly techniques and inspection methods.
• Experience with micrometers, gauges and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Reduce process and product variation using lab instruments and corrective actions.
• Lead or assist formal problem-solving projects including CAPAs.
• Read engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
• Perform basic dimensional inspections with hand tools.
• Suggest design or process improvements via FMEA.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and operators for training.
• Support non-conforming material handling and scrap reduction.
• Create visual aids and support operator instructions.
• Conduct internal audits to ensure conformance to requirements.
• Document quality issues and participate in shift handoffs.
• Maintain health and safety standards on site.
