Role Overview

Caterpillar is seeking an Assembly Production Manager in Clayton, NC. You will manage the production schedule, technicians, and overall performance of the designated value stream, aiming to meet Caterpillar’s goals for People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate unsafe operations and ensure a safe, clean environment.
2. Determine processing needs to meet schedules and production requirements with appropriate fixtures, tooling, and methods.
3. Coordinate daily with production management to assign workloads, priorities, and sequences.
4. Assess overtime needs, resource constraints, and disciplinary actions.
5. Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate non-value activities.
6. Ensure product quality conforms to Caterpillar’s Quality Policy while maintaining costs.
7. Order and distribute parts and materials efficiently.
8. Implement corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS/ISO.
9. Train and develop staff, manage timekeeping, estimate personnel needs, assign work, and ensure organizational standards are met.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques.
• Strong planning and organizational skills for tasks and resources.
• Understanding of manufacturing safety and hazard identification.
• Ability to deliver effective training on machinery operation and safety.

Preferred Experience

• Experience on a manufacturing floor and mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours, including overtime and shifts.
• Supply chain, assembly, or quality experience.
• Leadership in safety initiatives, lean manufacturing experience, strong human relations skills.

Additional Information

Location: Clayton, NC. No relocation assistance or sponsorship available. Salary range: $87,480 - $131,280.
