Job summary

Summit Polymers in Kentucky is seeking an Assembly Operator for 1st shift. Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor, the Production Operator performs molding and assembly tasks, follows written instructions, and ensures quality checks are completed.

High School Diploma or GED is required, and you must be able to stand for the shift and use basic hand tools. The role emphasizes safety, 5S cleanliness, and teamwork on the production floor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and follow Operator Instruction Sheets.
• Ability to perform quality checks and document findings.

Responsibilities

• Reads, understands, and follows Operator Instruction Sheet to determine part numbers, inspection procedures, packing requirements, and any special instruction.
• Retrieves, inspects, counts, weighs, packs, and labels parts in accord with written and/or oral instructions.
• Uses clippers, knives, screwdrivers, and other simple hand tools to trim, cut, and prepare parts for other operations per safety procedures.
• Operates molding machines and/or air activated tools and equipment to assemble, decorate, or produce product. Advises supervision of machine malfunctions and variances in quality.
• Compares, inspects, and monitors production quality to approved samples and accepts, rejects, or questions in accord with standards.
• Performs simple clerical tasks involving recording and summarizing production.
• Examines, repairs, trims, counts, weighs and performs secondary operations as directed.
• Performs tasks to meet production rate for specific parts.
• Performs routine cleaning chores to maintain cleanliness per 5S requirements.
• Interfaces with the production monitoring system.
• Assists in color changes / mold changes and set up for next job.
• Assists with breaks for other operators.
• Other tasks as directed by supervisor.
